Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog! 馃檶馃憖 Well, we continued teaching students, and it was Maru's and my group's turn馃槤. I was really nervous馃槦 because it was my first time doing it in front of people that I didn’t know, and second because our class was about to start, and not many students had arrived at our class but after a few minutes they showed up and the class started normally馃槍. To start we gave to each student name tags in order to make the class enjoyable and to call the students by their names馃憖. We taught 3 different topics which were greetings, verb to be in affirmative and spelling focusing on listening馃憘. We had different activities like draw what you listen to, spelling bee馃悵, and one of the most liked by the class was “Chayanne’s Hot Potato馃”; Giselle and Alexia came up with that name because we were going to play “Torero” by Chayanne for the wrap up activity馃槀. In addition, during the class we gave prizes to all the students who participated so that ...

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog! 馃檶馃憖 And here we are with one more entry for this subject馃憖. Our time to start teaching real students began. Let me tell you that there were around 15-20 students in the first and second classes, and I think it was pretty good since they are going to be learning a lot of new things馃檰. The first group started the class by making a circle in order for to everyone greet and meet each other and also to know their names. Then they taught the alphabet with some example words for each letter, and subsequently introduced the verb “to be”. To enhance student engagement, the group made some activities for each of the topics they taught.  After the break, the second group started their class, which was focused on grammar instruction, their warm-up was about sorting the options in a table to complete the structure, then they began explaining the grammar class. Also, they had the students create a conversation using what they had learned in class. T...

Group Planning and Feedback

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog! 馃檶馃憖 The previous session was more about Group Planning and Feedback, so we didn’t receive any new topic this week. Teacher Orlando first called the team leader of the group to go and take the group number, we got number three, and we are going to teach the topic greetings with listening activities on September 21 st . Also, we are going to teach our class in front of real students which I’m a little bit worried about since I don’t have that gift of being a teacher馃槦馃槄, however I will try my best to accomplish that haha馃檶. In addition, our classmates will be observing the class so they can have a better perspective on what to do and what to improve when teaching and not making a flat or boring lesson馃槾. In the session's final part, we received feedback and our grades for our first teaching experience馃憖. Teacher Orlando asked about our overall impressions and what changes we would make next time. He was surprised by my answer because I...

(PDP) - Pre, During & Post

Imagen
Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog! 馃檶馃憖 This week we learned a new method for teaching in class that is used only for receptive skills, and it is called (PDP). (PDP) in teaching classes is important because it promotes effective lesson planning, active student engagement, ongoing assessment, adaptability, and alignment with educational goals. This approach ultimately enhances the learning experience and improves student outcomes.✍ This approach consists of the following stages: The first "P" in PDP   stands for  "PRE,"  and is about what happens before students read or listen. Teachers do things like checking what students already know, teaching them new words, and making the topic interesting. These activities prepare students to understand what they'll read or listen to later. The "D" in PDP stands for "DURING," which is when students read or listen to something in class. Teachers use various activities to aid student underst...

Grammar and vocabulary classes

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog! 馃檶馃憖 This week we formed groups of 8 people and we had to teach vocabulary and grammar. This was literally my first time planning and teaching a class, and now I understand more than anything else that taking on the role of teacher is not easy馃槄.  Teacher Orlando told us that we had to wear the same color as our group to make it look like a uniform and to my impression, or rather everyone's impression, all the groups wore black, and it was very funny haha馃槀.  Here is a video of the whole class wearing a black shirt⚫. Group 1 - Hospital Vocabulary 馃彞 The first group started, and their class was based on hospital vocabulary, I didn't know many of the words they taught which I found very interesting, because no matter how advanced you are in the language you always end up learning something new every day. Talking about the activities they did, first, they provided us with definitions and handed out worksheets with exercises. They pr...
