Lesson planning, ICQs & CCQs
Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to
my blog!!
Is nice to be back once again. This week was a little bit different since we didn’t go to the University because of its anniversary, that means that we worked virtually, and teacher Orlando gave us a Lesson planning of what we were supposed to do for that class. Something curious about is that one of the topics for this week was Lesson Planning, I don’t know why, but I found it funny haha馃槄! Also, we study ICQ & CCQ a topic that I had never heard about馃檴, but thanks to teacher Orlando I was able to understand what each one of them was馃槍; and I’m going to talk about of them in the next paragraphs of this blog.
The next topic is ICQ & CCQ❔❓. We
start with ICQ, which is Instruction Checking Questions, and is a valuable tool
to assess students’ comprehension of instructions provided during individual,
pair, or group work in class. By asking ICQs, teachers encourage active
engagement and ensure a deeper understanding of the task. The emphasis lies in
allowing students the freedom to explore, attempt, and even make mistakes, as
these are natural aspects of the learning journey. Rather than viewing mistakes
as failures, the approach sees them as valuable learning opportunities. Through
ICQs, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning process, fostering
a more effective and enriched educational experience.
Concept Checking Question (CCQ)
is a specific question employed by teachers to assess students' understanding
of language elements, such as vocabulary, grammar, or concepts. Unlike
ineffective questions like "Do you understand?", "Is that
clear?", and others should be avoided as they don't effectively check
understanding. These valuable tools are used when introducing new material or
verifying students' grasp of the topic. They prove particularly beneficial
after guided practice and as a concluding review in a lesson. By incorporating
CCQs, teachers can avoid situations where students remain silent or struggle to
respond to questions despite receiving explanations.
These were the topics for this week, and I hope you like this entry. See you soon in next week’s entry, stay safe, and bye, bye!馃構✌
